Datong CRRC Aibixi Foundry Co., Ltd. (DACC for short) was established on April 28th, 1996. It is the first Sino-foreign joint venture in China, which is jointly invested by CRRC Datong Electric Locomotive Co., Ltd. (formerly Datong Locomotive Works of the Ministry of Railways) and ABC Railway Products China Investment Company of the United States. CRRC Datong Electric Locomotive Co., Ltd. is a national large-scale first-class enterprise that manufactures electric locomotives and other rolling stock products. It is one of the 500 largest industrial enterprises in China. It was established in 1954 and has nearly 10,000 employees. Now it belongs to China CRRC Corporation. ABC Railway Products China Investment Company of the United States is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Amsted Railway Group of the United States. Amsted Railway Group is in a leading position in the world in designing, producing and selling cast steel wheels and other railway products.
Datong CRRC Aibixi Foundry Co., Ltd. had a total investment of 342.79 million yuan and a registered capital of 228.53 million yuan, of which 60% was contributed by the Chinese side and 40% by the American side. It was one of the largest Sino-foreign joint ventures of the Ministry of Railways at that time. The company is located at No.1-1 Qianjin Street, Datong City, covering an area of 45,126 square meters. There are more than 1,500 sets of various equipment, and the annual production program is 280,000 pieces of cast steel wheels. The company has 435 employees, more than 40 managers and more than 20 engineers and technicians (of whom more than 10 have senior titles).
Since it was put into production in August 1998, Datong Zhongche Aibixi Foundry Co., Ltd. has established a complete and suitable quality management system (QMS) by introducing American proprietary technologies such as graphite sand lining for cast steel wheels, centralized riser feeding, and sequential solidification, drawing lessons from and absorbing American advanced management methods and quality control systems, and widely applying computer information systems to manage production records and quality data statistics. In May 1999, it passed the product certification of AAR M107/M208. In June 1999, it passed the AAR M1003 quality system certification of American Railway Association; In March 2000, it passed the ISO 9002：1994 quality system certification of Beijing Quality Assurance Center of China Quality Management Association; In March 2002, the edition was successfully converted according to ISO 9001：2000. In 2002, it passed the ISO 14001 environmental management system certification; In January 2006, it passed the GB/T 28001 occupational health and safety management system certification. The cast steel wheels produced by DACC have reached the advanced level of the same industry in the world in terms of product quality and quality assurance system, and they also attach great importance to environmental and safety protection, and all the sewage discharge has reached the national standards.
Datong CRRC Aibixi Foundry Co., Ltd. can independently design and produce various types of cast steel wheels with diameters of 750 ~ 1050 mm on the basis of introducing the manufacturing technology of cast steel wheels from ABC Company in the United States, and has developed HDZ, HDZA, HDZB, HDZC, HDZD, HEZC, HEZD, HEZE, HFZ and CJ-33. During the 18 years from 1998 to 2015, nearly 4 million pieces of cast steel wheels have been produced and sold. Besides being widely used in China's railways, some products have been exported to the United States, Brazil, India, Australia, South Africa, Tanzania and other countries in batches.
The cast steel wheels produced by DACC have won high customer satisfaction and quality reputation. In the quality spot check of freight car parts organized by the Equipment Department of the Transportation Bureau of the Ministry of Railways in 2003, the quality of cast steel wheels produced by Datong CRRC Aibixi Casting Co., Ltd. ranked first. Since the cast steel wheels produced by DACC have been used in China's railway transportation, there has never been a phenomenon caused by manufacturing quality that affects vehicle driving safety and railway transportation. Excellent wheel performance and excellent product quality have always enjoyed a good reputation and credibility among users. With the support of users for many years, DACC has grown into one of the largest railway wheel manufacturers in China. As a new technical industrial enterprise in China, DACC has been continuously supported and encouraged by local governments and countries. In November 1999, the company was recognized as an "advanced technology enterprise with foreign investment" by Shanxi Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation Department, and was reconfirmed by Shanxi Provincial Department of Commerce in April 2006. In 2008, the company won the National Outstanding Award for Social Responsibility of Foreign-invested Enterprises.
While strengthening technological innovation and improving product quality, DACC continues to develop and expand its business scale. In March 2006, Datong CRRC Aibixi Foundry Co., Ltd., Zhejiang Zhenghe Holding Co., Ltd., China CRRC Co., Ltd. and American ABC Railway Products China Investment Company jointly invested and established Xinyang Tonghe Wheel Co., Ltd., which was initially provided with technical support and services by DACC. Now Xinyang Tonghe Wheel Co., Ltd. has reached the requirements of the production program and become another important railway wheel manufacturer.
